IS IT GONNA BE KLOPP FOR THE KOP?
Jurgen Klopp was pictured in Leverkusen (below, shaking hands with a journalist) as Liverpool closed in on a deal for him to become their new manager.
Liverpool intend to hold a transatlantic board meeting via videophone today as they look to tie up the appointment of Klopp on a 3 year deal. Liverpool owned by John Henry, (pictured right wife Linda Pizzuti) have met Klopp more than once and are aware he has reservations about the way players are recruited by Anfield's transfer committee. Will they give him full control on transfers at Anfield?

AZPILLICUETA'S COMING TO THE BRIDGE

Marseille full-back  is on the brink of a move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo has been desperately seeking a suitable right-back following the departure of Jose Bosingwa in May and it appears he’s found his man.
Azpilicueta was a member of the Spain squad that flopped in the recent Olympic football tournament but that hasn’t deterred Chelsea. Talksport claims that the 22-year-old has all but agreed terms to join the reigning European champions, and they quote him saying: "I know that my transfer may be helpful given the economic situation of Marseille, so it is a good deal for all parties involved."

MANCHESTER UNITED BIDS FOR WITSEL

Portuguese source “O Jogo” has claimed that Manchester United have launched a €30m (£23.5m) bid for Benfica midfielder Axel Witsel. Manchester United are looking to boost his midfield options and have had their midfield target Lucas Moura move to PSG instead.
The 23 year old Belgian only joined Benfica from Standard Liege last season and it would be surprising if they were to sell him this summer.

Sir Alex Ferguson has brought in Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell early on in the window this summer and is keen to add more bodies to his squad.
Witsel is best remembered for the horror tackle on Marcin Wasilewski back in 2009, for which he received an eight match ban, he has since put that chapter of his career behind him and gone from strength to strength as he helped Benfica to put in a real challenge to FC Porto’s hold on the Portuguese domestic league last term.
